This ad (running in today’s New York Times) initially surprised me, because I thought the “shadow” was printed over real editorial copy. (Such a move would basically erase the already blurry line between editorial and advertising.) But, no, the copy beneath is dummy copy that is part of the ad. So, apart from the cleverness of the concept, it’s a pretty conventional double-page spread, thank goodness.
